Founders Journey
Hi everyone,
My name is Robert Edmanson-Harrison and I am a Psychotherapy, Mental Health & Social Care Practitioner. I also am an NLP Practioner, Business & Lifestyle Coach, Health Trainer & multiple modality trained Holistic Counsellor.
Speaking as someone who has a great deal of knowledge, qualifications & therapeutic experience, specifically in respect to areas of Mental Health disorders & conditions, I have & continue to have lived understanding of this subject....In effect, this means I am an "Expert By Experience."
Indeed, I have suffered with Mental Health issues all my life but have managed to keep them in check and even hide it from my wife for years. In fact so skilled was I that, I not only managed to hide my issues from others, but also in fact, managed to successfully hide how bad my issues were from myself!
However, my life changed dramatically in 2019 when I was bullied at work and had to give up work, as I could not cope. This was further compounded when Covid-19 hit, and my hitherto effective coping mechanisms began to fail and fall away from me and my depression levels grew exponentially.
During Covid-19 we all had to restrict our movements of course, but this impacted me more than others, as I became agoraphobic and could not bring myself to go out even when everyone got the "All Clear" my depression grew worse still and it became increasingly difficult for me to even manage the basics of life.
In 2024, I was diagnosed with Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and am currently on medication to help me with the daytime flashbacks of my childhood abuse. In addition, mainly due to my nightmares and sleep paralysis I have a dread of going to bed each night. This means I currently have high levels of insomnia and very rarely get more than 2.5 hour’s sleep in a night.
As you can imagine, life has been hard and I have struggled & continue to struggle every day, BUT!
So finally, in 2024, I told my wife about the full extent of my Mental Health issues and the root causes, starting with the facts about my physical and sexual childhood abuse perpetrated on me by my Uncle and his friends.
I also advised her of my previous mental crisis and my period of hospitalisation, treatments and the breakdown of my first marriage and loss of contact with my two children.
All this led me to confess not just to my wife, but also to myself that I was no longer coping and that I needed help!!
It was at this point I decided that, I had suffered enough and it was time to take back some sort of control. I signed up for CBT and counselling and as a defence against my Flashbacks and night terrors, I found that..by focussing on studying, it calmed my racing thoughts and at the same time it increased my knowledge of Mental Health illness.
" KNOWLEDGE IS POWER ! "
My aim now is to try help and educate non-mental health sufferers about the difficulty of living with a Mental Health condition in their daily lives. Part of my strategy to achieve my aim was to continue to upskill and enhance my own skillset in the field of Health & Wellbeing.
Now we are in 2025 and I have managed to complete two Diploma courses in Health & Social Care and last month was accepted as an Associate Member of The Royal Society Of Public Health.
Since then have begun writing courses, which I now share with you all via my new e-learning platform - https://therehacademy.ac/
You will find that, these courses are very reasonable in price as I want everyone to be able to try them and improve their lives by them.
You will note that, I also have partnered with professional organisations to get some my courses certified. The courses are accredited by one or more International Professional Accreditation bodies.
This means that each course complete by the learner gets an extra level of validation.
Unlike some of my competitors Websites / Platforms who, due mainly to the popularity of online learning are actually raising their costs to capitalise of the current demand for educational courses.
I am trying to keep the costs of each course low, to ensure that they are more readily available to a larger audience.
